The working characteristics of hydraulic motors:

(1) Under normal working conditions, the inlet and outlet pressures of hydraulic motors are greater than atmospheric pressure, so there will be no suction performance issues like hydraulic pumps. However, if the hydraulic motor operates under pump conditions, its inlet should have pressure restrictions to prevent cavitation.

(2) Motors should be able to operate in both forward and reverse directions, therefore, hydraulic motors are required to have structural symmetry in their design.

(3) The actual working pressure difference of a hydraulic motor depends on the magnitude of the load torque. When the driven load has a large moment of inertia, high speed, and requires rapid braking or reversal, high hydraulic shock will occur. Therefore, necessary safety valves and buffer valves should be installed in the system.

(4) Due to the difficulty in avoiding internal leaks, when the motor's oil discharge port is closed and braking is applied, there may still be a slow slip. Therefore, when long-term braking is required, a separate brake should be installed to prevent slip.
